Tupac Shakur on the Set of 'Juice': Watch a Rare Interview (Blu-ray Exclusive)

·Senior Correspondent, Yahoo Entertainment

Tupac Shakur was not only one of the greatest rappers of all time, he was also a very talented actor. And no film role better showcased his skill than his debut (not counting his cameo as a member of Digital Underground in Nothing But Trouble) as the mercurial criminal Bishop in the 1992 favorite Juice.

The Ernest R. Dickerson-directed street drama celebrates its 25th anniversary with a new Blu-ray release that includes some bonus material gems for ‘Pac completists. You can get a taste for the extras in the exclusive clip above, which shows the rapper-actor (allegedly getting nice on spiked orange juice) horsing around on set and disrupting an interview being shot with costar Jermaine Hopkins. Shakur then gives a rundown of what they’re capturing that day, the pivotal sequence where Bishop shoots and kills Raheem (Khalil Kain) in an abandoned building.

In subsequent contemporary interviews for the Blu-ray, Dickerson and producer David Heyman recalled how Shakur came into the picture in the first place. He had tagged along with his friend, Naughty by Nature‘s Treach, who was auditioning for a role, so the filmmakers asked Shakur to try out as well.

After his audition, Shakur left them with something to remember. “He walked out of the room, and then with a little wink and a smile, because he was mischievous… he said, ‘You better give me the part, because I know where y’all live’,” Heyman said.

“And we just looked at each other and said, ‘Whoa,'” Dickerson added. “That’s the dude.”

Juice: 25th Anniversary Blu-ray is released on June 6. Watch the movie’s trailer:
