This Couple Allegedly Tried To Sell Their Baby For $500
A West Virginia couple was arrested for allegedly trying to sell their child for $500, the Washington Post reports.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Department says emergency dispatchers received a call about a sick baby on May 28, but when they arrived on the scene, the caller said the child wasn't theirs and had been "abandoned at this residence" by its parents.
The Sheriff's Department says the couple brought the 3-month-old to the neighbor's home and tried to sell it to her for "$500 to $1,000." The woman did not agree to buy the baby, but the couple still left the child with her.
Witnesses say that Jonathan Isaac Lucas Flint, 20, was the man who tried to sell the baby and authorities think the woman who was with him was the baby's biological mother, Ashley Nichole Harmon, 25.
Both have been jailed on felony charges for selling or attempting to sell a child and the baby was placed in a temporary foster home.
