The Twilight Saga is returning to the public conscious this week, as Stephanie Meyer is releasing Midnight Sun next week. The novel, which comes out on August 4, tells the story of the first book but from the perspective of Edward Cullen.

With all the hype surrounding Justice League's 'Snyder Cut', it's not surprising that Entertainment Tonight asked Catherine Hardwicke if an alternate cut of her original franchise entry was possible.

The director said it would probably be too "difficult" to do, as her film was set "a lot more in Bella's head" and it would probably take a whole new film to do the book justice.

"[That] would be fun. It would be fascinating", she added, before adding the caveat that "Rob is Batman now... and Kristen is in a million beautiful projects. Who knows what would happen."

We don't know if it would be possible, but we could imagine Hardwicke reuniting with the aforementioned Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart for a short film showing Bella and Edward's early interaction from his perspective, allowing them to give better performances than a teen-centric film from the late 2000s required.

One person who likely wouldn't come back for anything is Anna Kendrick, who compared the filming of the first film to a "hostage situation".

If you fancy giving the series a rewatch, Netflix are adding all films (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Breaking Dawn Part 2) this month.
