Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3’s new limited edition physical release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One comes with a new exclusive comic book.

The comic features art by 20-year industry veteran Sean Chen — best known for his work on Iron Man, Wolverine, X-Men, and Avengers — and Gerardo Sandoval, who has worked on various X-men related titles, including Age of Apocalypse and Wolverine.

Ahead of the physical PS4 and Xbox One release on Tuesday, Capcom published an exclusive interview with the artists on its blog.

Sandoval talked about being a fan of Street Fighter when he was younger, stating he had “always wanted to do a Capcom vs Marvel art piece and I never thought that it could be possible.”

Knowing how particular Capcom fans can be, Chen wanted to make sure he portrayed those characters as accurately as possible.

“A big part of my job is to make sure to be respectful by acknowledging that there are people very passionate about these characters,” Chen said. “I did my homework and did a fair amount of research, which included discussing the characters with my son and some of his friends.”

“The challenging part is that some of the Capcom characters are on the very realistic end of the spectrum, such as Chris Redfield. Others such as Viewtiful Joe are very cartoony. Trying to integrate the different art genres into one story universe took some thought and calibration.”

A digital re-release of UMVC3 launched on PS4 with improved graphics and framerate on December 3, during PlayStation Experience/Capcom Cup 2016, where Capcom also announced Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. The game retails for $25 digital (PC, PS4, and Xbox One) and $30 physical (PS4 and Xbox One.)

In related news, UMVC3 won the Player’s Choice Evo 2017 vote, earning a spot in the marquee line-up with Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and more. It will likely be the final year UMVC3 will be featured on the main stage at Evo.
