VALORANT: Riot Games collaborates with Japanese girl group XG for VCT Pacific theme song 'UNDEFEATED'
XG is a seven-member Japanese girl group infused with influences from Hip hop and R&B.
Riot Games, the developer of popular first-person shooter VALORANT, is once again teaming up with another up-and-coming artist to celebrate the continuing rise of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific region.
Riot announced on Friday (5 April) that they collaborated with the hiphop and R&B-inspired Japanese girl group XG to release their collab single “UNDEFEATED” for the VCT Pacific 2024 tournament on 12 April.
"We're thrilled to collaborate with XG on the creation of UNDEFEATED for VCT Pacific," said Jake Sin, Head of VALORANT Esports APAC at Riot Games.
Sin also expresses his hope that the song will not just bring more hype to VCT Pacific 2024, but also to “demonstrate our commitment to our passionate community,” emphasising the role the fans played with their overwhelming love and support.
“We are grateful to work with XG to bring such a special track to life and hope our fans in the region and beyond will enjoy it as much as we do,” he added.
The theme of the song centres on "fearlessly seizing victory at all times" and will be woven into XG and VCT Pacific's signature soundscapes — a powerful bassline, minimalistic drum composition, and ethereal synths, and featuring the distinct vocals of XG members.
Who is XG?
XG is a seven-member girl group infused with influences from Hip-hop and R&B. Its lineup comprises JURIN, CHISA, HARVEY, HINATA, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA.
They made their debut in March 2022 with their first single 'Tippy Toes.' In September 2023, they marked a significant milestone with the release of their first Mini Album titled 'NEW DNA,' which soared to the number one spot on Billboard JAPAN's 'Hot Albums' chart.
With the conclusion of VCT Pacific Kickoff and Masters Madrid, teams from the region are now gearing up for Stage 1.
Kicking off with the Group Stage on Saturday (6 April) until 29 April and concluding with the Playoffs which runs from 3-12 May in Seoul, South Korea, teams will compete fiercely for the opportunity to represent the region at the second global event of the year, Masters Shanghai.
The top three teams of Stage 1 will all represent the Pacific League in Masters Shanghai on 23 May.
Then in Stage 2, stakes are even higher, with the the top three teams getting the chance to step foot on the biggest VCT Stage: VALORANT Champions.
The song will be available on all streaming platforms worldwide on 12 April. Viewers can catch the official music video on the VCT Pacific YouTube channel.
