Coast Guard Find Yacht of Missing Chinese Sailor

The U.S. Coast Guard deployed two airplanes and two ships in search of missing Chinese sailor Guo Chuan on Tuesday, October 25. The Coast Guard found Guo’s ship, the 97-foot super trimaran “Qingdao China”, drifting near Honolulu with no one on the deck.

Guo went missing west of Hawaii during his attempt to break the record for a solo crossing of the Pacific. The 51-year-old sailor’s ground navigation team had not heard from him since Tuesday, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Guo, who holds a world record for a 137-day solo non-stop circumnavigation in a 40-foot yacht, left San Francisco on October 18 and had aimed to reach Shanghai within 20 days.
