Drone Footage Captures Mysterious Celtic Cross in Irish Forest

A mysterious Celtic cross in the middle of a Donegal forest has caught the attention of many, since it was first spotted and investigated in October.

UTV investigated the cross after it was noticed by passengers on a flight into Derry airport.

The Donegal Daily reports that the cross at Bogay Hill was planted by forester Liam Emmery, who created the effect using two different types of trees.

Paul McMenamin, who recorded this video, told Storyful that the cross is called “Emmery Celtic Cross” after the creator. He said, “Liam sadly passed away six years ago without being able to see his creation grow and flourish. It was forgotten about since not many knew about it, however in the last year, passengers flying into Derry airport started to spot the cross. It is at least 400 feet in length and 150 feet wide and is truly a sight to behold”. Credit: YouTube/Eye in the Sky
