Irish Navy Rescues Migrants Off Libyan Coast

Ireland’s navy rescued more than 200 migrants 60 miles off the coast of Libya on Thursday morning, May 28. The migrants were part of a flotilla of five inflatable vessels that were attempting to cross the Mediterranean, the navy said.

The Irish Defence Forces have been deployed to the Mediterranean to assist Italian authorities with migrant rescue operations.
