Migrants Cleared From Camp in North-Central Paris

A camp in Paris that had for months been home to hundreds of African migrants was cleared by police on June 2. Some 400 people, mostly from Somalia, Sudan and Eritrea, had placed tents and mattresses under an elevated metro track in the La Chapelle area of north-central Paris, close to the city’s main rail hub of Gare du Nord.

According to France 24, who visited the camp prior to its clearance, most of the migrants had come to Paris via boat journeys from Libya to Italy. Credit: Antoine Léaument/antoineleaument.fr
