Mosque Collapses as Earthquake Kills Scores in Indonesia

At least 52 people were killed when a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Aceh province early on Wednesday, December 7, according to the country’s disaster management agency.

Among the buildings damaged was a two-story mosque in Meuko Kathang village in the Pidie Jaya district of Aceh, which partially collapsed, as this footage shows. According to local reports, worshippers had gathered for dawn prayers when the earthquake struck, but all had fled the mosque before it collapsed. Credit: Twitter/Indonesian Red Cross via Storyful
