Solar Impulse Pilot Bertrand Piccard Takes a Selfie From the Cockpit

Bertrand Piccard, one of the pilots of the Solar Impulse airplane, used a selfie stick like a pro while flying the aircraft from Dayton, Ohio to Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania.

The Solar Impulse is currently on a mission to be the first solar plane to fly around the world. According to CNN, it is powered by more than 17,000 solar cells and is expected to end its journey, which began in Abu Dhabi in March 2015, back in the Middle East around July.

Piccard shares flying duties with fellow pilot Andre Borschberg, but since the Solar Impulse’s cockpit is only large enough for one person at a time, the two switch off during different legs of their round-the-world journey. Credit: YouTube/SOLAR IMPULSE
