Typhoon Lionrock Makes Landfall in Japan

Typhoon Lionrock made landfall on Japan’s northeastern coast on Tuesday, August 30, bringing high waves and winds of up to 100 miles an hour. There were some reports of structural damage caused by the typhoon, but no early reports of fatalities. Lionrock was expected to head back out to sea by Wednesday. Credit: NOAA
