Weekend guide (10-12 February): Chingay Parade, FTISLAND Live in Singapore
Although the next public holiday may not be till April (which also brings along another extended weekend), this upcoming weekend has enough activities laid out to make you feel like you’re on a lengthy holiday. The annual Chingay Parade, FTISLAND (The Truth) Live in Singapore and Swapaholic Day are just some of the highlights this weekend.
1. Chingay Parade 2017
The largest street performance and float parade in Asia, the event highlights Singapore’s vibrant and multicultural society. To celebrate it’s 45th anniversary, the festival will stretch over three days, with the first two days reserved for the street parade, followed by a Night Fiesta on Sunday (12 Feb). The Parade will be held at F1 Pit Building and the Night Fiesta will be held at the closed stretch of Eu Tong Sen Street & New Bridge Road (between Upper Cross Street & Kreta Ayer Road).

2. FTISLAND (The Truth) Live in Singapore
Back after three years, the hit K-pop sensation are set to perform a full-fledged concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this Saturday. Recently presented the Most Popular Asian Band award at the Cool Music Asia Festival in Beijing China, FTISLAND has also won numerous other awards and have several best-selling to their name. The band’s charisma and strong vocals are ingredients for a night full of energy and entertainment.

3. JOURNEY Live in Singapore
One of the most popular American rock bands and the name behind hits such as “Faithfully”, “Any Way You Want It”, “Wheel In The Sky”, and “Don’t Stop Believin”, JOURNEY has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide, along with 19 Top 40 singles and 25 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums. JOURNEY even has its own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and has also been inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame. 4. Periphery (USA) – Live in Singapore
Catch this underground heavy metal rock band this Saturday at Millian Singapore. The band had a nomination for Metal Hammer’s 2013 Golden Gods Awards, and tours frequently with Dream Theater, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Animals As Leaders and others others. The band’s charisma has earned them a loyal fanbase across a spectrum of loud rock.

5. Laloo Lalang Bazaar – Singapore Classic Revival
Featuring over 40 stalls, Laloo Lalang’s upcoming bazaar at the National Museum of Singapore is be adopting a heritage-themed facelift and displaying a unique mix of fashion, merchandise and food with a quirky cultural twist. The bazaar is inspired by Singapore’s rich history and the myriad of colours from the 1960s era.

6. Yellowcard – The Final World Tour
Floridian rockers Yellowcard, who have ten acclaimed albums to their names, will be performing in Singapore this weekend for the very last time. The band plans to disband after this tour, which started in October in Texas.

7. Swapaholic Day
Got some clothes you need to want to dispose and don’t want to burn a hole in your wallet buying new ones? Swapaholic Day has the solution. This unique event allows individuals to trade-in their old clothes, which will entitle them to coupons that can be used to grab clothes traded in by other participants on the event day. Of course there are strict guidelines for clothes being approved by the organisers to be included in the pool of swappable clothes. Also, the last day to send in your clothes to be included in the pool is Wednesday (8 Feb).
