SINGAPORE — Here is a round-up of sports events and developments in Singapore in the past week (14-20 September):

New head coach for national artistic swimming team

The Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) has appointed Belarussian Anastasia Goutseva as its new artistic swimming national head coach. The 45-year-old replaces Geraldine Narvaez, whose tenure expired in August.

Goutseva was the head coach of the Greece national team from 2005 to 2009, leading the women’s duet team to joint-ninth place at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. From 2010 to 2016, she was the assistant coach of the Canadian national team, guiding the duet pair of Marie-Pier Boudreau Gagnon and Elise Marcotte to fourth at the 2012 London Olympics.

She had competed under the USSR flag as a junior athlete from 1982 to 1991. Following the breakup of the Soviet Union, she represented Belarus from 1991 to 1998 at the FINA World Championships and European Championships.

StarHub inks deal with Bundesliga

Local telco StarHub has inked a new multi-year deal to air German Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches in Singapore. Fans can look forward to more than 200 live league games, as well as German Supercup and promotion/relegation play-off matches, on StarHub’s broadcast and online platforms.

StarHub added in a media release on Tuesday (15 September) that it will collaborate with Bundesliga International to engage local fans, with promotions such as subscribers-only meet-and-greet sessions or social contests to win player jerseys during the season.

StarHub is also launching a Bundesliga microsite, which will host match highlights, matchday clips and Bundesliga Report - an editorially produced show that will feature Bundesliga stars, stories and exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
