Western Union launches co-located money transfer services at Singapore worker dormitories

SINGAPORE (Jan 17): Western Union has partnered Travelex, an independent foreign exchange (forex) and remittance business, to co-locate its money transfer services within five worker dormitories at Simpang, Mandai, Choa Chu Kang, Penjuru and Jalan Papan.

With the addition of Travelex locations, Western Union’s retail network will increase to 80 locations.

In a press release on Thursday, Western Union says the collaboration will bring door-step convenience to customers by providing them the option of either sending money into bank accounts globally, or receiving money in person via its retail agent locations.

The money remitter’s latest move comes shortly on the heels of its launch of online money transfers in Singapore via the Western Union mobile app.

Customers can pay for their transactions within the app using a choice of card or account, and will also have the option to pay in-person at retail.
