Cica is a commonly used name for the herb Centella Asiatica, which is used in Asia. It is also known as gotu kola, asiatic acid, hydrocotyl or even ‘tiger grass’ in other parts of the world. The story goes, tigers used to roll in the plant to regenerate their skin and heal scars, thus the name ‘tiger grass.’

Cica cream hit it big thanks to K-beauty, and today, we may find more beauty products that are infused with cica – namely cleansers, face masks and CC creams – carried by big names such as Dr. Jart+, Dr. Belmeur, Aveeno, Innisfree and more.

What are its benefits

Cica is touted by beauty experts around the world for its healing, soothing properties, which is suitable for those with sensitive skin. For some of us who are suffering from eczema and psoriasis, you’ll find its inflammatory properties extremely welcoming.

How does it work

Cica is jam-packed with goodness, especially fatty acids, antioxidants and your vitamins A, B and C. The ingredients work together to stimulate collagen production, improve hydration and strengthen your skin’s defense against bacteria.
