Meghan Markle has spent the last two years enduring constant British press headlines dragging everything she does. But according to Us Weekly, the Duchess of Sussex is standing her ground amidst the UK tabloids' never-ending scrutinizing. Yes, the British press' treatment of her has changed her, but it hasn't broken her. "It’s hard for Meghan in London because the press is so vicious to her there," a source told Us. "This is her life. But her mentality is like, ‘Well, if this is what it’s going to be like, I’m going to do what I want to do. I won’t play by these rules.'"

The outlet was told by a source that Meghan is "figuring out what she can do in terms of being active [and more] comfortable with her role." Her husband Prince Harry "supports her but recommends that she moves with ease," the source said.

Generally, Meghan has wanted to be more hands-on with her projects. Us's insider said this was part of what led Meghan and Harry to separate from the Royal Foundation they shared with William and Kate and begin their own foundation.

Kate and Meghan apparently didn't see "eye-to-eye" about how they wanted to run the joint charity, Us's source said. Meghan wanted “to be more involved-create initiatives and be in the trenches,” the insider said, while Kate wanted to be “more hands off.” That said, there is no "disagreement or rift" between them, according to Us's source.

ELLE.com was told by multiple sources last week that Meghan, Kate, Harry, and William will continue to work together on other projects together. They even “will continue to support each other on projects that they themselves do not have a link to,” sources shared. "They will still come together to make a difference."

A trusted confidant told ELLE.com in April that Meghan's passion for her charity work really drives her-hence her hands-on approach. “All the private visits to places and charities and stuff that she does without the media, with no one looking-it's literally incredible how much she does, the places she sneaks in and out of," the source said. "Meghan has shared with those closest to her, 'I just really want to be there, and I don't want anyone that's there to feel distracted or funny about me being there.'"
