Wildlife, 'ghost nets,' and a wrecked WW2 sub

These divers are taking abandoned fishing nets

covering a British submarine

that sank in 1941

Location: Kafalonia, Greece

Lost fishing gear known as "ghost nets"

often turn into death traps for marine life

Volunteers dived about 160 feet

to reach the sub

HMS Perseus

one of the biggest submarines of World War Two

The cleanup mission also focuses

on other wrecks in the area

The nets recovered will be regenerated

along with other nylon waste

//into socks, swimwear, and carpets//
