Woman arrested in Geylang, to be charged with murder of her daughter, 8

SINGAPORE — A woman will be charged on Wednesday (11 August) for the murder of her eight-year-old daughter, the police said on Tuesday.

The woman, 35, was arrested after the police were alerted at 11.40am on Tuesday to an incident in a house at Geylang Lorong 31, where an eight-year-old girl was found with multiple wounds.

The girl was unconscious and conveyed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12.45pm.

The police will seek a court order to remand the woman for psychiatric assessment.

If convicted of murder, the woman faces the death penalty.
