Xianyun aka Cloud Retainer and Gaming revealed as new upcoming characters for Genshin Impact version 4.4

With version 4.3 right around the corner, Genshin Impact has given us more to look forward to by revealing two new characters from Liyue: Xianyun, aka Cloud Retainer, and Gaming!

Xianyun may seem familiar to players, what with her distinct color palette and elegant air, and it's because we've actually met her before... just not in the human form she's currently taken on. Meanwhile, Gaming is yet to be introduced to the storyline and is a completely new addition to the Liyue character roster.

Much like with previous drips the past two versions, we can expect Xianyun to be a 5-star and Gaming to be a 4-star.

Here's what we know about Xianyun and Gaming so far!

Xianyun

If you haven't connected the dots yet, Xianyun is actually the legendary Adeptus Cloud Retainer's human form. Although we're yet to know why she chose to don a human form and come to Liyue Harbor, we do know that the illustrious Cloud Retainer has long been building an interest in interacting with humanity, in part due to the influence of her two disciples Ganyu and Shenhe, as well as her mutual agreement with her fellow Adepti to observe how Liyue can thrive without the guidance of the Geo God Morax.

A valuable ally to us during our travels in Liyue, Cloud Retainer offered a treasure trove of knowledge, both regarding Liyue's sprawling history and in her unique mechanical inventions. Not to mention some embarrassing stories at Ganyu's expense, too.

Xianyun will wield an Anemo vision, although no information has been revealed regarding her choice of weapon and her rarity. But considering her caliber, she could be a 5-star character.

We're excited to get to know Cloud Re— I mean Xianyun more! What's her purpose for coming to Liyue Harbor? What's in store for her in the future?

Gaming

A completely new character who has yet to make an appearance in-game, Gaming is a part of the Sword and Strongbox Secure Transportation as its reliable Vanguard, helping to transport merchants and their cargo from Yilong Wharf to Liyue Harbor.

But besides protecting cargo and caravans, Gaming is known for his remarkable Wushou Dance as part of the "Mighty Mythical Beasts". His dance however, which he dreams to be a regular occurrence in Liyue Harbor, has a long way to go before making making its indelible mark in the nation.

Gaming will wield a Pyro vision, however his weapon choice and rarity is yet to be known. We can assume however, that he may be a 4-star character.

Xianyun and Gaming will make their debut as playable characters in Genshin Impact version 4.4, which is expected to be released in early February 2024, just in time for Lantern Rite. But before that though, players can enjoy more time in Fontaine in version 4.3, which will feature the debuts of Navia and Chevreuse.
