Corporal punishment is still fairly common in Singapore. Caning is still allowed as punishment in schools, with the Ministry of Education giving schools full authority over disciplining students.

It is also not illegal or unlawful for parents to cane their children in Singapore – until such punishment crosses into unnecessary abuse. Indeed, caning is still a common punishment for adult law-breakers.
