SINGAPORE — Singapore and Malaysia have signed an agreement on Tuesday (21 May) to suspend the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS) project for six months. Malaysia had made the request to suspend the project due to concerns about the cost.

The agreement means that the RTS project’s expected completion date in 2024 will most likely be delayed. With Malaysia not ruling out the possibility of terminating the project, the issue of easing the traffic jams at the current two Causeways will be under some degree of uncertainty until further updates on the viability of the project.
