The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public that 2019 could be a big year for dengue.

The health department said that there are already 55,976 cases and 227 deaths reported in the first quarter of 2019. This is a jump from the 31,247 cases and 168 deaths compared to the same period last year.

“It really seems we’re seeing a lot of cases this year. It’s the natural cycle. Two years with low cases, one year with high cases. It looks like this is that year,” the DOH said.
