Zhou Xun accepts Chevalier medal from France

24 Feb – It was revealed that Chinese actress Zhou Xun has recently been honoured with the Chevalier medal in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) from the French Foreign Ministry.

According to CRI, on 21 February, the "Painted Skin" star attended the event held at the French Embassy in Beijing, to be presented with the award by the French Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, who was on a four-day visit in China.

Zhou Xun received the medal of honour for her achievements in film, her charity work, as well as her contributions to the good relationship between China and France.

The actress, who was ecstatic to receive the award, expressed, "I am absolutely happy. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Sino-French relations, so I am very glad to receive the honour."

"I hope that I will be able to continue doing more in improving the cultural communications between China and France," Zhou added.

Zhou Xun joined the likes of other stars who have been recognised with the Order of Arts and Letters, including Jiang Wen, Liu Ye, Gong Li and Zhang Ziyi.
