Another man arrested for attempted breach at Woodlands Checkpoint


In what is the second case this month and the fourth this year, yet another man was arrested for trying to pass through the Woodlands Checkpoint without clearing immigration.
 
The 33-year-old driver, a Malaysian, was unable to produce his passport at the Arrival car counter when he pulled up at about 10:45am on Monday, said the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) in a statement.

Death count in ferry sinking tops 100


Dozens of police officers in neon green jackets formed a cordon around the dock as the bodies arrived Tuesday, nearly a week after a South Korean ferry sank. Since divers found a way over the weekend to enter the submerged ferry, the death count has shot up. Officials said Tuesday that confirmed fatalities had reached 104, with nearly 200 people still missing.

MH370 passenger’s partner tells of strange email from sacked Fox officer


The partner of an American passenger aboard the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has spoken about how a Fox executive who was recently sacked by the news station had contacted her offering to raise funds on her behalf.

Sarah Bajc, whose partner Philip Wood is among the 239 people on board the missing plane, told the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) that she had replied an email from Darlene Tipton, vice-president of Fox's standards and practices department, who offered to raise millions of dollars to help her.

US could hit Putin with sanctions, State Dept official says





The United States could impose sanctions on a range of Russian officials over the crisis in Ukraine, US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

Asked in an interview on Twitter whether the United States was considering the possibility of hitting Russian President Vladimir Putin personally with sanctions, Psaki replied: "Range of officials under consideration. Plenty to sanction before we would discuss President #Putin."
