Singapore economy returns to growth in third quarter
Singapore's economy returned to growth in July-September, reversing contraction in the previous three months, owing to a pick-up in the city-state's key manufacturing sector, the government said on Tuesday.
However, officials estimate the economy grew 2.4 percent year on year, which is below analysts' forecasts of 2.8 percent.

A group of researchers at Singapore's Nanyang Technological University have developed a new lithium-ion battery that charges exponentially faster than existing ones that power all manner of electronic devices, from cars to phones.
The fast-charging next generation lithium-ion batteries, expected to hit the market in two years' time, also have a long lifespan of 20 years, helping to cut down waste generated by disposed batteries.

KL court dismisses appeal on assets freeze after Singapore stocks collapse
Kuala Lumpur's highest court has dismissed an application to set aside a permanent injunction by the Kuala Lumpur High Court to freeze assets worth S$79.1 million of six individuals and two companies over the collapse of the shares in three Singapore-listed firms – Asiasons Capital Ltd, LionGold Corp Ltd and Blumont Group Ltd – last year.
