Village @ Pasir Panjang to revive West Coast charm

By Romesh Navaratnarajah:The 148-unit Village @ Pasir Panjang condominium (pictured) looks to recapture some of the historic charm of Singapore's West Coast – the kampung ambiance of old Pasir Panjang and the façade of black and white houses of the 1950s. The project by Champsworth Development, a unit of SDB Asia, will be nestled on a 0.99ha site and will feature nine five-storey blocks with a basement car park and attic.

"We want to bring back the kampung atmosphere in our latest project; hence the name Village and also to reflect Pasir Panjang's past which was once a kampung area," said Yeoh Guan Jin, Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager at SDB.

Construction works on the U-shaped development will commence next year and it will comprise two-, three- and four-bedroom units with built-up areas ranging from 818 to 2,303 sq ft. Prices start from S$1.4 million or S$1,650 – S$1,660 psf.

With a gross development value (GDV) of S$260 million, the condo is expected to be completed in 2016. Facilities will include a children's pool, lap pool, clubhouse and gymnasium, among others.

Sited close to several good schools, Village @ Pasir Panjang will also offer easy accessibility to major transport arteries such as West Coast Highway, Ayer Rajah Expressway, Pan-Island Expressway, Central Expressway and East Coast Parkway.
