Brighstone house fire forces residents from their homes

People living near a house fire on the Isle of Wight were forced to leave their homes overnight.

At its height, crews from five stations across the island tackled the blaze in Gaggerhill Lane, Brighstone, after it broke out shortly before 02:00 BST.

The fire service said firefighters had managed to stop the blaze spreading to neighbouring homes.

Crews remain at the scene damping down. Those living nearby are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke.
