Canadian Tire recalls snow blowers due to electric shock hazard
The government agency issued a notice on the 22-inch models of the Yardworks 15-Amp Electric Corded Snowblowers sold between March 2019 and December 2021.
Health Canada is circulating a recall notice for snowblowers sold at Canadian Tire over a potential electric shock risk.
On Feb. 28, the government agency issued a notice regarding 22-inch models of the Yardworks 15-Amp Electric Corded Snowblowers sold between March 2019 and December 2021.
The agency says that the power cord may become brittle and break when the temperature falls below -20 C and is advising everyone to stop using it “immediately” and return it for a full refund.
The company has received at least 11 reports of incidents relating to the power cord becoming brittle—however, there have been no reports of any injuries.
Health Canada also reminds everyone that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada.
The affected batch numbers are provided on the Health Canada website.
