Genshin Impact version 4.5 is now here, and with it comes the Geo 5-star sword user fashionista and designer Chiori! Don't be fooled by her elegant creations or her innocent face, behind all of the embroidered cloth and fancy accessories is a powerful unit that can dish out devastating Geo DMG.

Although the current Genshin Impact meta caters towards elemental reactions, you simply can't go wrong with just unleashing pure destructive Geo DMG on your enemies. Chiori offers both support and damage capabilities with her unique kit, making short work of her enemies just easily as she can seemingly create an elaborate costume with only a few snips of her sewing shears.

If the gacha gods has blessed your pulls with Chiori, here's everything you need to know in order to build this Inazuman fashion extraordinaire!

The Thundering Seamstress

Chiori is a quickswap Geo sub-DPS who can also double as a support or on-field main DPS, depending on what role you need her for in your team, making her a very flexible character when the need arises.

Much of Chiori's utility comes from her skill, Fluttering Hasode, which when tapped allows her to charge forward with an upward slash of Geo DMG. At the end of the dash, it also summons her trusty automaton assistant Tamoto.

When held, players can aim where Chiori will dash forward, similar to Alhaitham and Keqing's skills.

Tamoto can deal instances of area-of-effect Geo DMG. And if there is an additional Geo construct on the field, say Zhongli's Pillar, Ningguang's Jade Screen, or Geo Traveller's boulder, then Chiori's skill can summon another Tamoto.

Fluttering Hasode has an additional unique mechanic that comes with her A2 passive, Tailor-Made, wherein Chiori's skill can trigger two effects: Tapestry and Tailoring.

Tapestry will trigger if you press the elemental skill button again after your initial use of the skill. Tapestry will allow Chiori to automatically switch places with the next character in your party. For example, if Chiori is your first character and Arataki Itto is your second, she will swap places with Arataki Itto.

Additionally, all party members will gain "Seize the Moment", where Tamoto will coordinate attacks with an active party member's Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attacks. Tamoto's attacks will deal 100% of Fluttering Hasode's upward sweep DMG as area-of-effect Geo DMG. Seize the Moment will last 8 seconds, and Tamoto will release coordinated attacks every 2 seconds.

Tailoring will trigger if you press the normal attack button instead after your initial use of the skill. Tailoring will infuse Chiori's attacks with Geo for 5 seconds, which will be her bread-and-butter if you want to play her as an on-field main DPS.

Consequently, if you will not trigger any of these effects, Chiori will gain the Tailoring effect by default after unleashing Fluttering Hasode's upward sweep.

On the other hand, Chiori's burst, Hiyoku: Twin Blades, is a simple nuke ability that deals area-of-effect Geo DMG that scales off of her ATK and DEF.

Another passive skill that further buffs Chiori is her A3, The Finishing Touch, which increases her Geo DMG by 20% for 20 seconds when a nearby party member creates a Geo construct.

When leveling up Chiori's abilities, prioritise her skill and normal attacks first before her burst, though you'd want to max them all out eventually.

Chiori's best gear

Weapons

Chiori's best weapon is definitely her signature, Uraku Misuguri, which ascends with Crit DMG and has a passive that increases DEF by 20%, Normal ATK DMG by 16%, and Elemental Skill DMG by 24% at refinement rank 1.

Considering how Uraku Misuguri is the only sword in-game attainable to have a passive that increases DEF, you definitely want to get your hands on this if you're planning to fully invest in Chiori.

However, if you're not too keen on pulling for her weapon (and we must admit that the weapon banner is pretty lackluster considering that her signature is running with Redhorn Stonethresher), you can instead opt to use other swords you may already have.

The Mistsplitter Reforged, which has a Crit DMG substat and a passive that increases Elemental Skill DMG, is a good option.

It's pretty similar to Uraku Misuguri, just without the DEF increase but with the added benefit of 28% additional elemental DMG at full stacks, 4% more than Uraku Misuguri. The only downside is that with Chiori's infusion lasting only 5 seconds, you're probably going to have a difficult time to get Mistsplitter's passive triggered.

Primordial Jade Cutter is also a good alternative considering it's a generalist 5-star sword, but only if you already have it and don't have any other 5-star swords you can spare. Primordial Jade Cutter ascends with Crit Rate, which may mean you have to be mindful of your subsequent artifact stats as Chiori also ascends with Crit Rate. The passive, which gives additional 20% HP, is pretty useless on Chiori though.

Similarly, Haran Geppaku Futsu is also a viable option, but has the same drawback as Primordial Jade Cutter as it ascends with Crit Rate. However, the passive, which increases all elemental DMG by 12% and Normal ATK DMG by 20% when all stacks are consumed can be easily attainable with Chiori's infusion time.

For 4-star weapons, you also have a selection of paid, event-exclusive,and even a 3-star option to choose from.

The Battle Pass 4-star sword Wolf-Fang is your best bet. Wolf-Fang ascends with Crit Rate, and increases both Elemental Skill and Burst DMG by 16% at refinement rank 1. Similar to Primordial Jade Cutter, you will need to be mindful of your subsequent artifact stats and rack up as much Crit DMG as you can in your artifact rolls to have a comfortable Crit Ratio when equipped with this weapon.

If you have been playing since version 2.3 (which was released over two years ago), then you may have the elusive Cinnabar Spindle in your inventory.

This event-exclusive 4-star sword boasts a DEF substat and a passive that increases elemental skill by 40% of your total DEF. Again, if you're seeing this HoYoverse please please please give those who started playing after version 2.3 a way to get Cinnabar Spindle, I am begging on my hands and knees at this point.

If you're not too keen on spending for the battlepass, you can always use the secret 4-star weapon masquerading as a 3-star: Harbinger of Dawn.

Harbinger of Dawn has a Crit DMG substat and a passive that increases your Crit Rate by 14% if your HP is above 90% at refinement rank 1, which is pretty easy to do as Chiori must have Zhongli (and his shield) with her in her team if possible.

Artifacts

Chiori has two artifact sets to choose from, but its use to her depends on what role she will take for your party. If you're slotting her in for a sub-DPS/support role, then the 4-piece Golden Troupe is your best bet. Its 2-piece set bonus increases her skill DMG by 20% while its 4-piece bonus boosts the increase to skill DMG to 25%, which then doubles if the wielder is off the field.

If you're keen on having Chiori as your main DMG dealer, then you should equip her with a full set of Husk of Opulent Dreams.

Its 2-piece set bonus will give Chiori an additional 30% to her total DEF, while the 4-piece set bonus will give her the Curiosity Effect. The Curiosity effect stacks both when Chiori is on or off the field regardless, and when a maximum of 4-stacks is achieved, Chiori can gain up to 24% additional DEF and Geo DMG.

Since Chiori scales with both ATK and DEF, her artifact stats will once again depend on what you may be lacking in her build so far. You can opt for either an ATK or DEF% sands, a Geo DMG goblet, and a Crit DMG or Crit Rate circlet.

Chiori's best teammates

Since Chiori can play a very flexible role in team composition, and can fit well in support and Main DPS roles, you can use Chiori as a sub DPS to mono Geo lineups where Arataki Itto and Navia are the main DMG dealers.

But if you're looking to make her the star of the show, then Chiori's own mono-Geo team lineup should consist of characters who can support her well.

In that regard, Gorou is one character that should not be apart from Chiori. Gorou is a support Geo character who can increase Chiori's DEF, Resistance to Interruption, and Geo DMG with his skill as long as there are three Geo characters in your party. If Gorou is at full constellations, then you're in for a treat, as his c6 will further increase the Crit DMG of Chiori's Geo infused attacks. Gorou can also act as a healer as his c4 will allow Gorou to heal an active member by 50% of his total DEF.

To complete the three-character condition of Gorou's skill, Zhongli will be Chiori's shield and additional Geo construct provider. Of course we all know how ridiculously strong Zhongli's shield is, and the additional DMG you can get from his Geo pillar is a welcome boon. Not to mention the 20% elemental shred from his passive!

The fourth slot in this team is flexible, so you can slap on either Bennett or Furina. Bennett will be a more reliable healer than Gorou (or the designated healer if your Gorou has not reached c4), and can also give Chiori massive ATK buffs. Furina can also be a worthwhile ATK buffer, but since her skill saps away your party's HP, I wouldn't recommend putting her in your team without a reliable enough healer.

Genshin Impact version 4.5 dropped on 13 March and will see the release of a new 5-star character in Chiori, reruns for the 5-star characters Arataki Itto, Neuvillette, and Kaedehara Kazuha, as well as the new Chronicled Wish banner system.

If you're still torn on whether or not you should pull on Chiori and Itto's banners or wait for the second half to get Neuvillette and Kazuha on their reruns, then we can help you decide.

After version 4.5 comes version 4.6 in April, which will see the long-awaited debut of the fan-favourite Fatui Harbinger Arlecchino as a playable character.
