Dota 2 ESL One Birmingham 2024: Everything you need to know
Some of the participating teams include the winners of the last three tier 1 tournament in Xtreme Gaming and Team Falcons as well as TI 2023 finalists Team Spirit and Gaimin Gladiators.
ESL One Birmingham 2024, one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments this year, is set to deliver fans top tier Dota 2 action to close out the month of April.
From 22 to 28 April, 12 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world will be battling in the Resorts World Arena of Birmingham, the United Kingdom for their cut of a US$1 million prize pool. Also up for grabs are ESL Pro Tour (EPT) points, which will go towards qualification to this year's Riyadh Masters — which has become the biggest annual Dota 2 event in terms of prize money over the past year.
Here's everything you need to know about ESL One Birmingham 2024:
Teams
The 12 teams competing in ESL One Birmingham include four directly invited teams as well as eight teams who earned their spots through regional qualifiers hosted in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, the Middle-East and North Africa (MENA), North America, and South America.
Notable participants include the grand finalists of last year's The International (TI) 2024, namely reigning two-time champions Team Spirit as well as the runners-up and three-time Major champions Gaimin Gladiators.
There's also MENA-based juggernauts Team Falcons, who have staked their claim as the best team in the world early this year by winning back-to-back trophies at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and DreamLeague Season 22. Chinese powerhouse Xtreme Gaming will also be looking to pose another challenge to Falcons' dominance after defeating them in the grand finals of the Dota 2 Elite League earlier this month.
