Dota 2 ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023: Gaimin Gladiators, Azure Ray make Top 3 while Blacklist, LGD go home

Day three of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 on Wednesday (13 December) zoomed through a whole lot of Dota 2 competition. Not only did it see the conclusion of the Group Stage, the first Playoff match to determine two of the Top 3 teams in the tournament was also played.

The day started with the Philippines' Blacklist International and China's LGD Gaming miss out on the Playoffs after getting eliminated in 9th-10th place.

Chinese powerhouses G2.iG and Azure Ray, The International (TI) 2023 runners-up Gaimin Gladiators, and star-studded MENA squad Team Falcons then earned upper bracket berths in the Playoffs. Meanwhile, Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and Team Secret from Western Europe as well as Eastern Europe's BetBoom Team had to settle for a lower bracket start.

Gaimin Gladiators and Azure Ray went on to defeat G2.iG and Team Falcons, respectively, to make the Top 3 ahead of ESL One Kuala Lumpur's main event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

With the day's results, Gaimin Gladiators and Azure Ray have guaranteed themselves at least a third place finish as well as US$120,000 in winnings.

Meanwhile, Blacklist International and LGD Gaming were eliminated in 9th-10th place and have earned US$30,000 for their efforts. Wawitas Sagazes and 9Pandas were previously eliminated in 11th-12th place and will take home US$25,000 in consolation.

ESL One Kuala Lumpur will go on a one-day break on Thursday (14 December) before the main event at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre kicks off with the lower bracket on Friday (15 December).
