Dota 2 reveals new hero, Ringmaster, coming in 2024
While Ringmaster's reveal did not say much about what kind of hero he will be, he seems to be able to control creeps and heroes with his abilities.
Dota 2 has revealed a new hero, the Ringmaster, that will be the 125th hero joining the game's expansive and colourful roster some time in 2024.
Dota 2 developer Valve Software revealed the upcoming hero in the final day of The International (TI) 2023, this year's world championship tournament.
The reveal featured Axe chasing a mechanical clone of the Kobold Foreman neutral creep before being lured in to play in a high striker carnival game. After Axe got his axe stuck in the game machine, the hero was pulled into it by a pair of diabolical mechanical arms.
Aside from having a circus theme and being named after the master of ceremonies in one, the reveal did not say much about what kind of hero Ringmaster will be.
However, we can infer from what was shown in the reveal that Ringmaster will be able to either mimic, capture, or control creeps and heroes with his abilities. This will certainly make for some very exciting gameplay once Ringmaster finally joins the War of the Ancients.
Valve did not reveal exactly when next year Ringmaster will be revealed, though we can expect it may take at least a few months based on the release window for the game's latest hero, Muerta.
Muerta was revealed in the final day of TI 2022 in Singapore last October. She was released just over four months later alongside the 7.32e update.
Ringmaster was notably revealed after TI 2023's lower bracket finals, where three-time Major champions Gaimin Gladiators soundly swept Chinese powerhouse LGD Gaming.
Gaimin Gladiators will be facing TI 2021 champions Team Spirit in the best-of-five Grand Finals, where the Aegis of Champions and the grand prize of US$1.4 million will be up for grabs.
TI 2023's Finals Weekend will be hosted in the Climate Pledge Arena from 27 to 29 October in Seattle. There, the eight remaining teams will be battling to decide who will be crowned as this year's Dota 2 world champions.
