Did you ever dream of having famous Filipino cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfao accompany you in your adventures? If so, then lucky you as Dragon's Dogma 2 will somewhat let you live that fantasy as she has been revealed to be an official 'Pawn' available for hire when the game launches on 22 March.

If you haven't played the Dragon's Dogma series yet and don't know what Pawns are, they are human-like beings who assist the player in both combat and exploration. Pawns can take on most of the vocations, or character classes, available in the game, letting them cover any weaknesses of the main player character's vocation and improve the versatility of the party.

Players will be able to create their own Pawns, but can also hire those created by other players. In Dragon's Dogma 2, developer Capcom has partnered with content creators and other prominent community members to create special Pawn versions of themselves for players to hire.

The special Pawns differ from normal Pawns in that their equipment cannot be changed once hired, and there is no Rift Crystal cost when hiring them up to level 10. They will also not appear in certain features such as daily and overall rankings, will have their names displayed in a different colour, and some will even have a limited availability period.

Alodia's Pawn, nicknamed 'Angel', has the Sorcerer vocation and is able to wield powerful magical attacks. However, Sorcerers need time to cast their spells, so players will need to either protect Alodia from attacks or lure enemies away from her in order for her Pawn to fulfill her role effectively.

"Delighted to share that I’ve become a part of Capcom’s upcoming game, Dragon's Dogma 2! It’s been an incredible journey developing my character over the past few months with the SEA and Japan dev team, and I can’t wait for you all to meet and summon her in the game. Such a wonderful early birthday surprise!" Alodia said in a post on her official Facebook page.

Aside from Alodia, other Southeast Asian personalities that partnered with Capcom to create special Pawns include Thai YouTuber HEARTROCKER and Indonesian YouTuber Hans "The Jooomers", among others.

What is Dragon's Dogma 2?

Dragon's Dogma 2 is the long-awaited sequel to the smash-hit action RPG by Capcom that will be released on 22 March 2024 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Players will take on the role of the Arisen — a figure destined to face the game's titular dragon who has taken their heart and prevent a coming apocalypse — and a party of Pawns as they embark on their grand adventure and face a wide variety of enemies.

The sequel will be very familiar for fans of the original, as the same eight vocations — namely Fighter, Archer, Thief, Mage, Warrior, Sorcerer, Magick Archer, and Mystic Spearhand — will be available. There is also the all-new Trickster vocation, which lets players conjure illusions to bewilder enemies and greatly empower their Pawns.

Dragon's Dogma 2 also features a very robust character creation system, which uses photogrammetry technology to increase the photorealism of characters while adding a way to simplify the process of creating them. In the character creation menu, players can even select images that resemble the look they have in mind for an easy way to create their ideal character.

Players can freely create and customise the appearance of the Arisen and the main Pawn.
