Early closures for several MRT stations in next three months
SINGAPORE — There will be a series of early closures for selected MRT stations along the North-South Line between January and March next year, to allow SMRT to carry out maintenance works and power supply system renewal along the train line.
In a post put up on its Facebook page on Thursday (26 December), SMRT said that from 3 to 11 January, four MRT stations – Novena, Toa Payoh, Braddell and Bishan – will close earlier at about 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
On the four affected dates, there will be a shuttle bus service to connect commuters travelling between Ang Mo Kio and Newton stations.
Then on selected Fridays and Saturdays in February, as well as all Fridays and Saturdays in March, three MRT stations – Yishun, Khatib and Yio Chu Kang – will close earlier at about 11pm.
On the affected dates in February and March, there will also be a shuttle bus service to connect commuters travelling between Canberra and Ang Mo Kio stations.
The timing of the last trains departing from each station during these planned early closures will vary. Commuters are advised to check the departure times at the affected MRT stations, or on SMRT Trains’ website and social media platforms to better plan their journeys ahead of time. More time may be needed to travel between the affected MRT stations using the shuttle bus services.
