Genshin Impact drip Furina, Charlotte as new upcoming characters

While their rarities were not revealed, Furina, by virtue of being an Archon, should be a 5-star character. Meanwhile, Charlotte is expected to be a 4-star.

Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse has revealed Furina, also known as the Hydro Archon Focalors, and the Steambird reporter Charlotte as the two new characters coming to the game, likely in version 4.2 in early November.

While HoYoverse did not indicate the rarities for both characters, we can safely assume that Furina, by virtue of being an Archon, will be a 5-star. Meanwhile, Charlotte is expected to be a 4-star.

Here's everything we know about Furina and Charlotte so far!

Furina, also known as Focalors, rules over Fontaine as the Hydro Archon and the God of Justice. As should be obvious, the Hydro Archon uses the Hydro element and, judging from her illustration, she also uses a sword in battle.

Her drip marketing also lists her constellation as "Animula Choragi", a Latin phrase which roughly translates to 'animal play'.

Perhaps this gives us a hint at how her kit will look like, as Hydro elemental beings like Oceanids are known to summon animal-shaped water mimics in battle.

Furina was first revealed in the “Overture Teaser: The Final Feast” back in July and the Traveler's first encounter with her upon arriving to Fontaine saw the Archon challenge them to a duel and attempt to arrest them for a petty crime.

Furina would eventually get her desired duel with the Traveler, but in the courtroom, as the latter chose to act as Lyney and Lynette's attorney when their magic act in the Opera Epiclese went awry.

As is fitting for the God of Justice, Furina also revels in the spectacle of the courtroom, often overseeing and participating in the nation's daily trials that now seem more like operatic performances instead of tribunals. Because of this, many of Fontaine's citizens see Furina more as a beloved mascot of their nation instead of their god and ruler, with most of the nation's day-to-day affairs instead being handled by Chief Justice Neuvillette.

But while Furina often appears elegant yet haughty, she also has hidden sides she tries to hide from her people. For one, she can get easily flustered — which can be seen when the Traveler, and later on the Fatui Harbinger Childe, challenged her to a duel.

Furina also hides a deep sadness within her, most likely caused by the prophesied cataclysm that will strike Fontaine.

According to the prophecy, all citizens of Fontaine are born with a sin that even the Hydro Archon cannot absolve. One day, the waters of Fontaine would rise and drown the nation's people to wash away their sin, leaving the Hydro Archon weeping alone upon her throne. In fact, if you go to the Fountain of Lucine in front of the Opera Epiclese, you can hear Furina crying and muttering to herself.

We can't wait for the next instalments of the Fontaine Archon Quest to see more of Furina and how she will handle the looming crisis over her nation. November can't come soon enough!

Charlotte

Charlotte is a journalist for the Steambird, a newspaper based in Fontaine that has readers and writers from all across Teyvat. She has a Cryo vision, though her weapon of choice has not been officially revealed yet.

Our first encounter with Charlotte was during the “Duel! A Summoner’s Summit!” event in version 3.7, where she met the Traveler while covering the Genius Invokation Grand Prix.

When we next saw her in Fontaine, Charlotte was investigating the case of the disappearances of multiple young women across the nation.

Charlotte is known for her boundless reserve of energy and perseverance in her relentless pursuit of the truth. She is also committed to the principle that "nearer to the action is closer to the truth," which has taken her to all parts of Fontaine and even to the other nations of Teyvat. It also goes without saying that it has gotten into a fair bit of trouble too.

While Charlotte was the first playable character from Fontaine that the Traveler met, she hasn't spent that much time in the spotlight in the Fontaine Archon Quests so far.

We're hoping we get to see more of her soon in the game's story while we wait for her debut as a playable character!

Furina and Charlotte will be the new characters coming to Genshin Impact in version 4.2, which is expected to be released in early November.

But while we wait for version 4.2, version 4.1 will be released on 27 September and will see the debuts of new 5-star characters Neuvillette and Wriothesley. There will also be a continuation to the Fontaine Archon Quest, new gear to collect, new areas to explore, new enemies to fight, and more coming in version 4.1.

This upcoming version will also host the celebratory event for Genshin Impact's third anniversary on 28 September, so there's lots to be excited about!
