After over three years since Genshin Impact was released, the game is finally getting a feature that players have long been clamoring for: an artifact loadout system. This and other quality-of-life changes will be coming in version 4.4, which is expected to be released on 31 January.

Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse detailed the coming quality-of-life changes in version 4.4 in a Developer's Discussion blog post on Wednesday (17 January).

The biggest quality-of-life change coming in version 4.4 is no doubt the new artifact loadout system, which will finally help players easily pick and choose between different artifact sets and configurations to equip their characters with depending on the situation.

This will be especially useful for characters with widely different playstyles that need very different artifact sets, like the Raiden Shogun's normal build with the Ember of Severed Fate set and her Hyperbloom build with the Gilded Dreams or Flower of Paradise Lost sets.

Genshin Impact's new artifact loadout system will have two main features: the Quick Loadout and the Custom Loadout.

The Quick Loadout will automatically equip characters with a set of artifacts based on data from recently active players. This will be useful for when you have a new character you're building and are having some trouble trying to find a good artifact set to equip them with.

Meanwhile, the Custom Loadout works as its name implies, letting players create a certain custom artifact loadout by selecting which artifact main stat, set types, and substats to use.

This should be the one most commonly used by players, letting them quickly sort through their hoard of artifacts to find specific pieces with Crit Rate and Crit DMG substats, for example. With that said, HoYoverse did not reveal how many, if at all, artifact loadouts will be available for each character.

Aside from the new artifact loadout system, other upcoming quality-of-life changes include an increase to the number of party compositions that can be saved in the party setup menu to 15, optimizations to Serenitea Pot furnishings and Test Run challenges, as well as a reminder for collecting Adventure Encounter rewards.

There will also be a new Borderless Mode function exclusive to PC players as well as optimization to character model precision, which is available for both PC and console players.

Other new content coming in version 4.4 will also be revealed in the version 4.4 preview livestream on Friday (19 January).

Genshin Impact is currently in the second half of version 4.3, which features the debut of the 4-star Pyro Polearm character Chevreuse as well as reruns for the 5-star characters Raiden Shogun and Yoimiya.

After version 4.3 comes version 4.4, which is expected to be released on 31 January and will feature two new characters in Xianyun, aka Cloud Retainer, and Gaming.
