Happy Birthday! Michael Rooker Turns 61 Years Old Today!
Michael Rooker is an American actor, who is best known to comic book fans for playing three roles.
In 1995, Rooker played Jared Svenning in Kevin Smith’s Mallrats. While the film only did a couple million at the box office, it eventually became a cult classic. Smith recently announced that he will be doing a sequel, and Rooker is already onboard to return for Mallrats 2.
From 2010 to 2013, Rooker played Merle Dixon on The Walking Dead. He appeared on 14 episodes of the series. While Merle was an ill-tempered redneck, he eventually found some measure of redemption near the end of the series, when he attempted to kill The Governor.
In 2014, Rooker appeared in the box office smash Guardians of the Galaxy. Rooker played the character of Yondu and is currently reprising his role as Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, which is filming as we speak.
In addition to Mallrats and Guardians of the Galaxy, some of Rooker’s other films include Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Eight Men Out, Mississippi Burning, JFK, Tombstone, and Super.
Michael Rooker was born on April 6, 1955, in Jasper, Alabama. He turns 61 years old today.
