The second game of the International Champions Cup in Singapore certainly did not disappoint.

Played out in front of 23,338 fans at the National Stadium on Thursday (27 July), Inter Milan were made to work hard for a 2-0 win. Both goals, scored by striker Eder Martins, came in the first half.

Just like the first match on Tuesday, it didn’t take long for a goal to be scored, only that this time, it was FC Bayern who conceded. Antonio Candreva put in a cross for Eder who somehow headed powerfully into the top corner despite bending downwards in the ninth minute.

Inter extended their lead on the half-hour mark, thanks to another Eder header. This time, it was courtesy of a wonderful cross by left winger Ivan Perisic, which caught the Bayern defence flat-footed and resulted in an easy finish from Eder.

It was not just about the goals. For a friendly game, things did get a little feisty during parts of the match. Twice, Bayern right-back Rafinha and Perisic had disagreements with each other, with the former particularly unhappy with the Croatian following this tackle.

The second half saw Bayern piling on the pressure on Inter to find a way back into the game, but for all of their brilliance in front of goal against Chelsea on Tuesday, they struggled to hit the target.

A host of changes by both teams didn’t help matter as well, as the game slowed down considerably, and the scoreline remained as it did at the end of the half.
