Karol G Makes Met Gala Debut in Pointed Ears and Platinum Locks to 'Express How I Love Fairies'

The singer called the dreamily-themed gala the “perfect opportunity” to showcase her love of the mystical creature

A character from The Lord of the Rings? No, that’s Karol G at the 2024 Met Gala!

The 33-year-old singer made her Met Gala debut on May 6, embodying this year's theme "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” in a sheer, crystal-embellished Marc Jacobs gown.

She elevated the structured, floor-length piece — and leaned further into fairycore — with prosthetic fairy ears, ethereal makeup and platinum locks that fell to her waist.

While the dress code, "The Garden of Time," is inspired by a short story by J.G. Ballard, the musician’s whimsical, almost elven look inspired comparisons online to J. R. R. Tolkien’s iconic fantasy franchise — and more specifically, Cate Blanchett’s character, Lady Galadriel.

Speaking about her eye-catching, elvish look on the red carpet, Karol G told Vogue that the event “was the perfect opportunity for me to express how I love fairies and dreamy vibes and fantasy.”

"And this was the world I wanted to go with, with Marc Jacobs, who is the designer of the dress,” she added.

Noting that this is her first-ever Met Gala, the “PROVENZA” singer told the outlet, “With the other things, I just come here to have a great night.”

“It's like a party for me,” she continued. “To meet people to have conversations with people I admire and respect is going to be amazing for me tonight.”

Along with her wavy, platinum-blonde tresses, Karol G evoked Blanchett in The Lord of the Rings films with a crystalline crown, which perfectly complemented her gown’s crystalline details.

She also tied the look together with a final, sparkling detail — an ear cuff with a drop detail, which she wore on her fairy ear prosthetics.
