Kris Jenner Underwent A Hysterectomy Amid Ovary Tumor Diagnosis
Kris Jenner is opening up about a terrifying cancer scare.
During last week's episode of The Kardashians, the 68-year-old gets upset while discussing her health with boyfriend Corey Gamble and daughters Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kendall Jenner during a family trip.
"I wanted to tell you guys something…I had my scan," she said through tears. "And this just makes me really emotional, but they found something."
Kris continued, noting that doctors found a “cyst and a little tumor on my ovary.” The next episode showed Kris doing a pre-op exam with her doctor, Boris Vaisman, M.D. “I’ve made peace with the fact that this is happening,” she said. “But I’m still a little nervous.”
This isn't the first time Kris has spoken up about her health, but the scenes are raising all kinds of questions about what happened with Kris and how she’s doing now. Here’s everything we know so far.
Does Kris Jenner have cancer?
It’s not clear whether Kris Jenner had cancer, but she did have a tumor at one point, as she shared in season five.
While having dinner with several members of her family, Kris opened up about her diagnosis. “I had my scan. They found a cyst and, like, a little tumor,” Kris said, getting emotional.
“Dr. A said I’ve got to have my ovaries taken out, and I'm emotional about it because they came in handy with you guys,” she continued. “That’s where all my kids were conceived and that’s where they were grown, in my tummy. So, this is a very sacred place to me.”
She underwent a full hysterectomy.
Although Kris initially thought she would only have to remove her ovaries, she later shared that she would be having a full hysterectomy instead. A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the uterus, according to the Cleveland Clinic. (The ovaries are part of the uterus.)
According to Kris, her doctor told her, “Listen, I really think the best thing for you is to remove the whole thing. Do the complete hysterectomy. And not give anything a chance to grow.”
Kris agreed to the procedure, appearing determined to move forward. “We’re here to fix it, and I’m going to do something and remove something that gave me six of the best parts of my whole life,” she said. “Here we are now talking about it again, and it’s the other side of the process. And it makes me very sad.”
But the mom-of-six was “mourning” not being able to be pregnant again.
“I loved being pregnant. Love, love, loved being pregnant,” she said. “And I do mourn not ever being able to be pregnant again. It was just this delicious time in my life where I felt like everything came to a halt. Life was beautiful. It was the best time of my life. The best years.”
To make her feel better, Kris’ children decided to throw her a goodbye party for her ovaries.
“I think we need to just make it into a positive moment and bring her something to cheer her up,” Kim said, adding that they should “celebrate the amazing work those ovaries have done.”
For the party, Kim and Khloé brought balloons and a cake that hilariously read, “It’s not ovary yet.”
In a teaser trailer for the next episode, Kris shared that she had gone through with her hysterectomy. “I'm done with my surgery, and I feel great!" she said.
This isn’t the first health scare she’s detailed on 'The Kardashians.'
Kris has been open about her health over the years. In 2022, she detailed her experience with hip pain and hip replacement surgery on The Kardashians. "Hearing the doctor say that I need a hip replacement is very scary for me,” she said. “It reminds me of somebody older than I feel on the inside and somebody who is going to have challenges for the rest of her life. This is serious.”
She also said that the experience was a “mindf*ck,” adding, “You just realize you don't have that much more time. It's like suddenly, I can't do all the things… My hip goes out, my knee is torn. I have an eye infection, I can't see. I have the TV up too loud and Corey says I can't hear. I feel like Humpty Dumpty.”
But Kris has also revealed how much better she felt after her surgery. During season three, she had a full-body MRI, and told cameras that her results showed that her health is similar to a 40-year-old's. “I am literally 40 years old—physically,” she said. “To hear that I’m young on the inside is so happy.”
Wishing you well, Kris!
