Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's love story is the stuff of modern-day fairy tales—we're all just waiting for the happily ever after at this point—but according to Patrick Mahomes, one of the tight end's teammates, the quarterback and superstar songstress would have happened if it wasn't for him. Mahomes explained that he was the one who insisted that Kelce come along with him to Swift's Eras Tour stop on July 7, 2023. Of course, if Kelce hadn't ever gone to the show and lamented about not being able to meet up with Swift before she took the stage, the two never would have linked up.

"I like to take some of the credit," Mahomes said on the May 23 episode of The Pat McAfee Show. "I was the one who invited Travis to the first Taylor concert with the friendship bracelet. He was sitting in my suite."

Mahomes even went as far as to call himself a "matchmaker," saying that he encouraged Kelce to shoot his shot.

"I had some input in there as well," Mahomes said, adding that he told Kelce, "Dude, just go for it, just go for it."

Kelce also opened up about the relationship's beginnings when he spoke with McAfee on July 26. He told the host that he was "butt-hurt" that Swift's pre-show rituals included resting her voice.

"I was disappointed that she doesn't talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings," Travis said in the episode. "So, I was a little butt-hurt I didn't get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her."

Swift spoke about being able to spend time with Kelce without the world knowing during an interview with Time

"We started hanging out right after that," she said back in December 2023. "So, we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I'm grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."

Of course, fans know that everything worked out, with Swift making her Arrowhead Stadium debut in September 2023 and the two embarking on a whirlwind romance that's included Swift flying across the globe to watch Kelce at the Super Bowl, Kelce doing a similar trip to see Swift in South America, and the two being spotted in Italy together as the star brings her tour to Europe.
