SEA Games: Singapore's Cheyenne Goh wins first medal in speed skating

Singapore rounded off its SEA Games campaign with four more silver medals from short track speed skating at the Empire City Arena.

On the last day of competition on Wednesday (30 Aug), 18-year-old Cheyenne Goh and 28-year-old Lucas Ng won silver in their respective 1000m finals.

In the 3000m relay finals, Singapore’s men’s and women’s teams also finished in the silver medal position.

On Tuesday (29 Aug), Cheyenne Goh delivered the first individual medal from the event, winning bronze in the women’s 500m sprint.

Medal favourite Ng fell short in his first bid to reach the podium after being disqualified in the 500m sprint on Tuesday.

Ng was the first Singaporean to participate at the Asian Winter Games in Kazakhstan in 2011.

This is the first time winter games have been included in the regional tournament. Singapore also won a gold medal in figure skating through Yu Shuran, while the national ice hockey team finished fourth.
