SINGAPORE — Singapore may experience slightly hazy conditions over the next few days when the prevailing winds shift to blow from the southwest, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said on Monday (26 August).

On Monday morning, Singapore experienced slightly hazy conditions due to a brief shift in the direction of the prevailing winds to blow from the southwest on Sunday, the NEA said.

The slightly hazy conditions improved when the prevailing winds strengthened to blow from the south-southeast and there were also thundery showers over Singapore.

As at 6pm, the 24-hr PSI was 68-80, in the moderate range, and the 1-hour PM2.5 concentration readings were 7-30 µg/m3, in Band I (normal).

There were 60 hotspots detected in the provinces of Riau, Jambi and South Sumatra, with showers falling over central Sumatra on Monday.

For the next few days, thundery showers can also be expected in Singapore, the NEA forecast.

The 24-hr PSI for the next 24 hours is forecast to be in the moderate range, whereas the 1-hr PM2.5 concentration reading is expected to be in Band I (normal).
