“They think that it came very easy for me because they don’t know my story. It doesn’t come easy,” she said. “I did not marry into a rich family. When I married my ex-husband, he was not a rich man, he was just an employee. We had to struggle for 10 years before he finally became successful.”

Chua broke into tears after that and was consoled by Maia. According to the report, the couple divorced after her ex-husband had married another woman.

Her newfound friendship with the former member of Indonesian pop duo Ratu sparked from a common past. Maia was well-known in the past for being married to Indonesian rocker Ahmad Dhani. The couple had three children together before they divorced. Ahmad Dhani married singer Mulan Jameela soon after the divorce. Mulan is the other half of pop duo Ratu.

“I know her past story. She went from zero to hero. What happened to her was similar to me. It wasn’t easy for us,” said Maia in Bahasa Indonesia. The both of them shared their stories together when they met in 2016.
