A 54-year-old woman has died after a fire broke out at Toh Guan Road on Thursday morning (4 May), opposite the IMM shopping mall.

According to media reports, the woman was a tenant of the building, which went up in smoke at around 7.40am. She was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital with burn injuries. The woman’s death was confirmed by a hospital spokesperson.

The police said they are investigating the unnatural death.

SCDF earlier stated on social media that the fire was confined to the façade of the building. The blaze, which involved the contents of a warehouse, was put out in about 40 minutes using three water jets.

SCDF had sent fire engines, Red Rhinos, fire bikes and ambulances to the scene. Some 50 people were also evacuated from the eight-storey building, which is reportedly owned by Cambridge Industrial Trust.
