People are divided about the annual New Year’s countdown: While most people probably enjoy ringing in the new year at a vibrant gathering of people in the company of family or friends, such as at the Marina Bay Countdown 2019, others prefer to stay at home and reflect on the passage of time in peace, quiet and solitude.
