STORY: Meet 10-week-old tabby Zanzibar

She is the 10,000th kitten

cared for by New York's ASPCA

SENIOR MANAGER AT THE ASPCA KITTEN NURSERY, MEIKE OLIVER:

"We're excited about this huge milestone of our 10,000th kitten // We get kittens that are very vulnerable and they're the most vulnerable population in New York City and in the country. So we feel it's important to save them and to take care of them. "

The ASPCA’s kitten nursery

first launched in 2014

It’s the city’s first and largest

to care for neonatal kittens

KITTEN FOSTER CAREGIVER, EMILY GOLDSMITH:

“Look at her. Just look. They are just so sweet. I know some people say they aren't cat people and when they say that, I'm just like, 'Oh, you just haven't spent enough time around cats.'

Zanzibar and her sister

are currently being fostered

and will soon be up for adoption
