SINGAPORE — An 80-year-old man, his wife, 66, and their son died after a suspected electrocution incident in the elderly’s couple flat at Jurong West on Thursday (10 December), according to a Straits Times (ST) report.

The older man, identified by the newspaper as Omar Manan, had reportedly fallen in the shower at their flat at Block 120 Ho Ching Road.

He and his wife – identified as Madam Asmah Bujang – were reportedly electrocuted when she attempted to help him.

Their 45-year-old son, identified by the ST as Muhamad Ashikin Omar, was visiting them along with his 15-year-old daughter. The newspaper cited its source as a family friend who spoke to Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News.

The younger man had broken the flat’s door and entered it after waiting outside with no reply. He was electrocuted when he tried to revive his parents, according to the report.

The police said no foul play is suspected, adding that they were alerted to the case of unnatural death at about 4.15pm.

The couple were found lying motionless and pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

Their son was unconscious when paramedics arrived, and was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

The police are investigating their deaths.
