Genshin Impact version 4.0 saw the long-awaited release of Fontaine the Nation of Justice, as well as new characters from the region, and tons of other new content.

Another new addition in this version was a new set of 4-star weapons that are available through the Battle Pass for players to equip their characters with for the adventures ahead.

So, how good are Genshin Impact's new Battle Pass weapons and which ones should you get? Read on to find out!

Wolf-Fang (Sword)

Base ATK: 510

Crit Rate: 27.6%

Use on: Alhaitham, Kamisato Ayato, Keqing, Lynette

The Wolf Fang is ideal for characters that deal a barrage of elemental attacks, as its passive increases the damage of both its wielder's skill and burst by 16% at refinement rank 1 and up to 35% at max refinement.

Additionally, your character’s Crit Rate will be increased by 2% at R1 and 4% at R5 when either a skill or burst hits an opponent, with the effect lasting for 10 seconds and stacking up to 4 times.

Considering how Genshin Impact’s metagame continues to be dominated by team compositions focused on dealing damage through elemental reactions, Wolf Fang is a pretty amazing upgrade to give to sword DPS characters given if you’re only a light spender and are not interested in pulling for their signature weapons.

Talking Stick (Claymore)

Base ATK: 565

Crit Rate: 18.4%

Use on: Dehya, Diluc, Kaveh

The Talking Stick is a very niche weapon, as the passive is geared towards giving DMG bonuses when affected by different elements. Which means that characters who can self-apply specific elements to themselves can use this Claymore quite easily, though there aren't many such characters.

When its wielder is affected by Hydro, Cryo, Electro, or Dendro, the Talking Stick will give a 12% Elemental DMG bonus at R1, increasing by up to 24% at R5, once every 12 seconds. Additionally, if the wielder is affected by Pyro, their ATK will also be increased by 16%.

The passive is great, but the Talking Stick isn’t a prime option for light spenders who aren’t comfortable with letting their Claymore DPS go into the fray without a shielder. If you’re thinking of equipping this on Diluc or Beidou, it’s best to give them their own healer that can keep up.

However, self-healing characters like Dehya and Kaveh will have a swell time with this weapon.

Ballad of the Fjords (Polearm)

Base ATK: 510

Crit Rate: 27.6%

Use on: Hyperbloom Raiden Shogun, Cyno, Xiangling, Thoma

The Ballad of the Fjords is a support-oriented weapon as opposed to the other choices in the Battle Pass, as its passive is geared at increasing Elemental Mastery by 120 at R1 and 240 at R5 when there are at least 3 different elemental types in your party. This means the weapon will be great for characters that are geared towards Dendro-related reactions like Hyperbloom and Burgeon.

However, the issue we can see with this weapon is that there is literally no Hydro polearm character who can use it. Hydro polearm user when, HoYo?

Sacrificial Jade (Catalyst)

Base ATK: 454

Crit Rate: 36.8%

Use on: Baizhu

Another support-oriented weapon, the Sacrificial Jade’s passive is geared towards support units who are off-field as much as possible. As when not on the field for more than 5 seconds will yield you a 32% max HP increase and additional 40 Elemental Mastery at R1, which goes up to 64% HP increase plus 80 EM at R5. The catch however, is that these effects will be cancelled after the wielder has been on field for 10 seconds.

So far, it seems that the only character who can enjoy the Sacrificial Jade’s passive to its full extent is Baizhu, who can thrive well with the additional HP and Elemental Mastery increase as well as the quick-swap mechanic of its passive. Other off-field supports like Yae Miko, Nahida, or Sucrose have better 4-star options and are not recommended to equip this weapon.

We’ll have to wait on future Fontaine catalyst users to see if they synergise well with Sacrificial Jade.

Scion of the Blazing Sun (Bow)

Base ATK: 565

Crit Rate: 18.4%

Use on: Lyney, Tighnari, Ganyu

The Scion of the Blazing Sun is a DPS bow built for characters reliant on Charged Attacks, making it a great option when you main the likes of Lyney, Tighnari, or Ganyu.

After its wielder hits an opponent with a Charged Attack, this weapon triggers the Heatsearer effect for 10 seconds, giving the wielder a 28% Charged Attack DMG increase at R1 and 56% at R5.

Additionally, a Sunfire Arrow will descend and deal 60% of the wielder's ATK as DMG at R1, increasing to 120% at R5. The effect can be triggered every 10 seconds.

Genshin Impact version 4.0 was released on 16 August and is expected to run until late September. Aside from a new region and new characters, version 4.0 also brings with it a new underwater diving mechanic, a revamped party setup menu, multi-layered map, and more!

After version 4.0 comes version 4.1, which will feature the debuts of Neuvillette and Wriothesley.
